My name is Amin Shaaban. I am 42 years old. I am a Bedouin from Lod and I grew up in a huge family with my father, two mothers and 17 brothers and sisters! That’s probably why I had my own big family – including my three beautiful wives, Zina, Saada and Hiba, and 12 gorgeous children. And with Hiba pregnant, our 13th child is on the way!
After high school I began driving a cab to make ends meet. I work long days, sometimes up to 14 hours, to support my family. I am the sole provider for them all. And I am saving up to build my eldest son a house so he can get married and begin his own family. My wife Sadia says I am good father who lives for my children.
On the afternoon of January 1, 2016, as Israel celebrated the first day of a new year, I was hard at work driving my cab around town when Nashat Milhelm, a 29 year old Palestinian terrorist from a village in northern Israel, jumped into the car as any other passenger would. Unbeknownst to me, this terrorist had just walked down the busy Dizengoff Street outside the Simta Pub in Tel Aviv and opened fire with a submachine gun. He killed two men and injured eight more people. I drove him, at gunpoint, about 15 minutes north of Tel Aviv. He shot and killed in me on Yunitsman Street. The Palestinian terrorist, on the run for a week and aided by his family, left everyone in the city fearful. My name is Amin Shaaban. I am 42 years old. And I am one of #TheFallenFaces.Learn more about Amin Shaaban here.
